Resources

A number of special resources enrich students’ experiences in the American Studies Program at Richmond.

The American Memory Collection

The Library of Congress's American Memory Collection provides free and open access to written and spoken words, sound recordings, still and moving images, prints, maps and sheet music that document the American experience and chronicle historical events, people, places and ideas that shaped and continue to influence America. Students are encouraged to use this site and the Travels in America Collection as a reference when they conduct research.

The Travels in America Collection

American Notes: Travels in America, 1750–1920 includes 253 published narratives by Americans and foreign visitors who recounted their travels in the colonies and the United States and noted their observations about America’s people, places and society.
